Bacillus cereus selection agar base

Bacillus cereus selective agar base is a solid medium for selective isolation and preliminary identification of Bacillus cereus. Its basic ingredients include peptone, beef extract powder and mannitol to provide nutrition, and the key additive polymyxin B can effectively inhibit most non-target Gram-negative bacteria and some positive bacteria. Bacillus cereus can ferment mannitol to produce acid, and form opaque halo (lecithin enzyme test positive) on the medium containing yolk and phenol red indicator, and the colonies around it are not red, so as to identify them. This culture medium is widely used for rapid detection and counting of Bacillus cereus in food and dairy products.
