S-PPO is mainly derived from the decomposition and release of soil microorganisms, plant root exudates, and animal and plant residues, catalyzing the oxidation of aromatic compounds in the soil into quinones, which react with proteins, amino acids, sugars, minerals and other substances in the soil to form organic matter and pigments, complete the cycle of soil aromatic compounds, and are used for soil environmental remediation.

S-PPO can catalyze the production of colored substances from catalytic acidols, which have characteristic light absorption at 430 nm.
