MAO(EC1.4.3.4) is mainly found in various organs of vertebrates, especially secretory glands, brain, liver, and also catalyzes the metabolism of monoamines in invertebrates, legume buds and other plants. In addition, abnormal MAO activity leads to disturbances in intracellular monoamine neurotransmitter function, leading to a variety of conditions.

MAO catalyzes the deamonia of monoamine substrates to form corresponding aldehydes, which are further oxidized to acids. The substrate had a characteristic absorption peak at 360nm, and the rate of light absorption decline at 360nm was measured, and the MAO activity was calculated.
