pTRV2 Vector
pTRV2 is a vector used in plant virus-induced gene silencing experiments and is part of the Tobacco Rattle Virus (TRV) vector system. As the RNA2 component of the TRV viral genome, it is used in conjunction with the pTRV1 vector carrying the RNA1 component. After Agrobacterium-mediated inoculation into plants, it helps reconstruct a replication-competent virus within the plant while using the inserted target gene fragment as a template to trigger the plant's gene silencing mechanism (PTGS, post-transcriptional gene silencing). This specifically downregulates the expression of target genes, allowing for rapid functional identification of genes. This system is suitable for various plants (such as tobacco, tomato, Arabidopsis, etc.) and is particularly useful for species that are difficult to genetically transform stably.
