Bolton broth

Bolton Broth is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Campylobacter, especially suitable for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in food samples. Its ingredients include various peptones, yeast extract, animal tissue hydrolysate and other rich nutrients, as well as key selective additives such as cefoperazone, vancomycin, amphotericin B and trimethoprim, which can effectively inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative miscellaneous bacteria and fungi. The culture medium can effectively repair damaged Campylobacter and promote its proliferation under micro-aerobic conditions, which is the key pre-enrichment step of the standard method of Campylobacter in food safety detection.
