Improved CCD agar base (mCCDA)
The improved CCD agar base is an efficient solid medium for selective separation of Campylobacter. Its basic components include peptone, animal tissue hydrolysate and other nutrients, and the key selective additives are cefoperazone (instead of vancomycin) and amphotericin B, which can effectively inhibit most gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative miscellaneous bacteria and fungi. It contains sodium deoxycholate and blood/activated carbon to neutralize toxic metabolites and provide growth factors. Campylobacter can form gray, flat and shiny characteristic colonies on this medium under microaerobic conditions. It is widely used for the isolation and identification of Campylobacter jejuni/Colon in food and clinical samples
