Pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC) Assay kit

PDC is mainly found in yeast and is one of the key enzymes in ethanol fermentation, catalyzing the decarboxylation of pyruvate to produce acetaldehyde.

PDC catalyzes the decarboxylation of pyruvate to produce acetaldehyde, and the addition of ethanol dehydrogenase (ADH) further catalyzes the reduction of NADH to acetaldehyde to produce ethanol and NAD+. NADH had an absorption peak at 340 nm, while NAD+ did not; PDC activity was calculated by measuring the rate of light absorption decline at 340 nm.
