Phospholipase C (EC3.1.4.3) is a lipid hydrolase that hydrolyzes glycerol phosphate bonds at the C3 site of glycerol phosphate esters, which is widely present in microorganisms, animals and plants tissues and cells, and plays an important role in cell metabolism, cell transmission, growth and development.

Phospholipase C catalyzed the hydrolysis of NPPC to produce p-nitrophenol, which had a characteristic absorption peak at 410 nm.
