Mueller-Hinton agar is an international standard medium for antimicrobial susceptibility test (KB disk diffusion method and MIC determination). Its ingredients include beef maceration, casein acid hydrolysate and starch, providing stable and repeatable growth promotion; Starch can absorb toxic factors produced by bacterial metabolism. The culture medium has strict regulations on pH, divalent cation concentration and thymine content to ensure the accuracy and comparability of drug sensitivity results among different laboratories. Its surface flatness and depth have specific requirements, and it is suitable for the drug sensitivity test of most non-fastidious pathogens, and it is the core culture medium of clinical microbiology laboratory.
