UDPG pyrophosphorylase is a key enzyme in the process of glycogen synthesis in organisms. Glucose activation is catalyzed before glucose synthesis of glycogen, and glucose 1-phosphate is synthesized with UTP molecules to form UDP-glucose (UDPG).

UGP reversible catalytic reaction to produce glucose 1 phosphate, which converts NADP to NADPH under the action of glucose phosphate mutase and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and the absorbance value increase rate of 340 nm reflects UGP activity.
