Brucella medium
Brucella culture medium is a nutrient-rich solid or liquid culture medium dedicated to the separation and culture of Brucella pathogens. Its basic components usually include tryptone, peptone and yeast extract powder, which provide a comprehensive nitrogen source, carbon source, vitamins and growth factors; It is often necessary to add serum or whole blood (such as 5-10% horse serum or sheep blood) to meet the stringent requirements of Brucella for specific growth factors. The culture medium may contain selective antibiotics (such as cycloheximide, polymyxin B, etc.) to inhibit the growth of miscellaneous bacteria. Under aerobic conditions, Brucella grows slowly and usually needs to be cultured for several days to weeks, which is a key tool for clinical diagnosis and epidemiological investigation.
