Rapid hydrogen sulfide test agar
Rapid hydrogen sulfide test agar
Rapid hydrogen sulfide test agar is a special biochemical identification medium for rapid detection of hydrogen sulfide production ability of microorganisms. Its core components include peptone and beef extract powder to provide basic nutrition, ammonium ferric citrate as hydrogen sulfide indicator and sodium thiosulfate as reducing sulfur source. When some bacteria (such as some Salmonella and Proteus) can decompose sulfur-containing amino acids or reduce sodium thiosulfate to produce hydrogen sulfide, they will react with iron ions in the culture medium to produce insoluble black iron sulfide precipitate. The culture medium has rapid reaction and intuitive results, and is an important tool for preliminary identification of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria in food hygiene inspection and clinical microbiology.
