Pectin lyase (EC4.2.2.10) is an important part of pectinase, which is a depolymerase that can degrade plant cell walls, lead to softening or even death of plant tissues, and has a wide range of sources, mainly derived from microorganisms, and can be used for the clarification of fruit juice and fruit wine, improving the juice yield of fruits, purification of plant viruses, bleaching of pulp and biorefining of textiles, which has potential application value in reducing environmental pollution and reducing energy consumption.

The pectin lyase acts on the α-1,4 glycosidic bonds in the pectin to generate an unsaturated oligogalacturonic acid with an unsaturated bond between the reducing end C4 and C5, with a characteristic absorption peak at 235nm.
