CCDA agar

CCDA agar is an efficient solid medium for selective isolation of Campylobacter. Its basic components include peptone, animal tissue hydrolysate and other nutrients, and the key selective additives are cefoperazone and amphotericin B, which can effectively inhibit most gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative miscellaneous bacteria and fungi. At the same time, it contains sodium deoxycholate to neutralize toxic metabolites, and blood or activated carbon to provide necessary growth factors and neutralize the toxicity of the culture medium itself. Under micro-aerobic conditions, target campylobacter (such as Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli) can form gray, flat, shiny and possibly diffused characteristic colonies on this medium, which are widely used for the detection of food and clinical samples.
