Glycine medium

Glycine medium is a biochemical test medium for detecting bacterial motility, especially the growth ability of Campylobacter jejuni in high concentration glycine. Its basic ingredients include peptone and beef extract powder to provide basic nutrition, and the key ingredients are the addition of high concentration glycine (1.5%) and sodium chloride (1.6%). Many campylobacter can grow in this environment with high osmotic pressure and high glycine concentration, while the growth of most other bacteria is inhibited. At the same time, Campylobacter jejuni, which can grow in this medium, usually has the ability to penetrate the mucus layer. This test is an important auxiliary index to identify Campylobacter jejuni.
