pBI221 is a traditionally enzyme-digested binary expression vector widely used in plant genetic engineering research. Its core function is to drive high-level expression of the target gene (or reporter gene) in plants through the strong CaMV 35S promoter. It is especially regarded as a classic tool for analyzing gene expression patterns and validating promoter functions due to carrying the β-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene. It is suitable for both transient expression and stable transformation in various plants such as Arabidopsis, tobacco, and tomato.
