Cronobacterium Broth Basics

Cronobacillus broth is a liquid culture medium for selective enrichment of Cronobacillus (commonly known as Enterobacter sakazakii), which is especially suitable for the detection of food samples such as infant formula. Its basic ingredients include peptone and yeast extract to provide basic nutrition, and the key selective additives are ammonium ferric citrate and vancomycin, which can effectively inhibit the growth of most gram-positive bacteria and some non-target gram-negative bacteria. The environment created by this culture medium can specifically promote the recovery and proliferation of Cronobacillus, which is an indispensable enrichment step before subsequent isolation and culture (such as inoculation into VRBG or chromogenic plate), and provides reliable guarantee for effective detection of target bacteria in food.
