Foundation of blister meat culture medium

The blister meat culture medium is a classic liquid culture medium used to cultivate anaerobic bacteria, especially Clostridium. Its core components include beef residue (or broken heart and liver) and peptone. Beef residue not only provides rich nutrition and growth factors, but also contains unsaturated fatty acids and glutathione which can absorb oxygen in the culture medium and create a suitable anaerobic environment. At the same time, the paraffin or vaseline sealing layer on the liquid surface can further isolate the air. The culture medium can support the good growth of a variety of anaerobic bacteria, including Clostridium tetanus and Clostridium perfringens, and can be preliminarily identified by observing the characteristics of digestion, gas production and acid production of meat residue, which is widely used in clinical diagnosis and microbial research.
