The L-galactose pathway is the main pathway for the synthesis of AsA. Gal LDH, located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, is for catalyzing the last step of AsA biosynthesis in plants and is one of the key enzymes in this pathway, playing a crucial role in the accumulation of AsA content plants. Determination principle: Gal LDH catalyzes the reduction of L-galactose lactone by Cyt c, and the reduced Cyt has an absorption peak at 550 nm; the increase rate of reduced Cyt c is measured to calculate the activity of Gal LDH.
