Serum Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC) Detection Kit
Serum Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC) Detection Kit
Serum total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) refers to the ability of serum transferrin to bind iron. Its level is closely associated with the occurrence of diseases such as iron-deficiency anemia and acute hepatitis. This kit provides a simple, sensitive, and rapid method for TIBC detection. The principle is that Fe2+reacts with ferrozine to form a fuchsin-purple compound, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 562 nm.Under alkaline conditions, serum transferrin can bind to Fe3⁺, and the remaining unbound Fe3⁺ can be reduced to Fe2+. At this point, the absorbance A₁ is positively correlated with the amount of unbound Fe3+. After acidification, the Fe3+ bound to transferrin is released and further reduced to Fe2+; at this stage, the absorbance A2 is positively correlated with the total amount of Fe3+. The difference between A1and A1 (A2 - A1) is proportional to the TIBC concentration.
