Hexavalent chromium ions (Cr6+) mainly come from wastewater and waste gas discharged by industries such as electroplating, smelting, and surface treatment. Cr6+ enters the human body through the digestive tract, respiratory tract, skin, and mucous membranes, causing harm and even inducing genetic mutations that lead to cancer. In an acidic environment, Cr6+ reacts with diphenylcarbazide to form a fuchsin complex, which has a characteristic light absorption at 540 nm.
