H2S Content Assay Kit

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a novel gaseous signaling molecule and a neurotransmitter present in the brain. At physiological concentrations, H2S plays a crucial regulatory role in the long-term potentiation (LTP) function of the hippocampus in the nervous system, and exerts important pathophysiological effects on the progression of diseases such as essential hypertension, hemorrhagic shock, and liver cirrhosis.

H₂S reacts with reagents including zinc acetate, N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine, and ammonium ferric sulfate to form methylene blue. Methylene blue has a maximum absorption peak at 665 nm, and the content of H2S can be calculated by measuring its absorbance.
