Schaedler agar
Schaedler agar is a nutrient-rich solid culture medium for anaerobic bacteria, which is especially suitable for the separation and culture of anaerobic bacteria in gastrointestinal tract and clinical samples. Its basic components include casein trypsin digest, soybean peptone, yeast extract and glucose, which provide a comprehensive nitrogen source, carbon source and growth factor. The key additives are vitamin K1 and hemin, which are essential growth factors for many strict anaerobic bacteria. The culture medium can efficiently support the growth of complex anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides, Clostridium and Lactobacillus under anaerobic conditions, and is an important tool for studying intestinal microorganisms and identifying clinical anaerobic bacteria.
