Catalase (CAT) Activity Assay Kit

Catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the primary enzyme for hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) scavenging and plays a crucial role in the reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging system.

Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) has a characteristic absorption peak at 240 nm. CAT can decompose H₂O₂, which causes the absorbance of the reaction solution at 240 nm to decrease over reaction time. The activity of CAT can be calculated based on the rate of change in absorbance.
