Catalase (CAT) Activity Assay Kit
Catalase (CAT) Activity Assay Kit
Catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the primary enzyme for hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) scavenging and plays a crucial role in the reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging system. Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) can react with ammonium molybdate to form a stable yellow complex, which has a strong absorption peak at 405 nm. The absorbance value is proportional to the concentration of hydrogen peroxide. By measuring the amount of residual H₂O₂ in the reaction system, the amount of H₂O₂ decomposed by CAT catalysis can be obtained, and thus the activity of CAT can be reflected.
