Phenylalnine Ammonialyase (PAL)Activity Assay Kit
Phenylalnine Ammonialyase (PAL)Activity Assay Kit
Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL, EC 4.3.1.5) is widely present in various plants and a few microorganisms. It is a key enzyme in the phenylpropanoid metabolism of plants, and is closely related to the synthesis of some important secondary metabolites such as lignin, isoflavonoid phytoalexins, and flavonoid pigments. It plays an important role in the normal growth and development of plants and the resistance to pathogen invasion. PAL catalyzes the cleavage of L-phenylalanine into trans-cinnamic acid and ammonia. Trans-cinnamic acid has a maximum absorbance at 290 nm, and PAL activity is calculated by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance.
