Xanthine Oxidase (XOD)Assay Kit
Xanthine Oxidase (XOD)Assay Kit
Xanthine oxidase (XOD, EC 1.17.3.2) catalyzes hypoxanthine to produce xanthine and superoxide anions. It is one of the main sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and also one of the key enzymes in nucleotide metabolism. XOD is mainly distributed in tissues such as the heart, lungs, and liver of mammals. When liver function is impaired, a large amount of XOD is released into the serum, which has specific significance for the diagnosis of liver damage. XOD catalyzes hypoxanthine to generate xanthine and superoxide anions. The superoxide anions react with hydroxylamine hydrochloride to form nitrite ions (NO₂⁻). Under the action of sulfanilamide and N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine dihydrochloride, NO₂⁻ forms a fuchsin azo compound, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 530 nm. The activity of XOD can be reflected by the amount of this compound produced.
