Wilkins-Chalgren agar
Wilkins-Chalgren agar is a standardized culture medium used for antimicrobial susceptibility test of anaerobic bacteria. Its ingredients include casein digested by trypsin, plant peptone, yeast extract and glucose to provide balanced nutrition. The key additives are arginine, vitamin K1 and hemin, which are necessary growth factors for the growth of many anaerobic bacteria. The precise formula of the culture medium can ensure the good growth of anaerobic bacteria, and its low redox potential and stable components make it suitable for agar dilution method or E test method to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of anaerobic bacteria to various antibacterial drugs, with reliable results and good repeatability.
