Uric Acid (UA)Content Assay Kit
Uric Acid (UA)Content Assay Kit
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Disorders of purine metabolism, abnormal energy metabolism, and impaired renal excretion of uric acid can all cause an increase or decrease in plasma uric acid levels, which in turn leads to the development of various diseases such as gout, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease. The determination of uric acid content plays an important guiding role in clinical diagnosis. Uricase catalyzes the decomposition of uric acid into allantoin, carbon dioxide (CO₂), and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). H₂O₂ oxidizes Fe2⁺ in potassium ferrocyanide to form Fe3⁺. Fe3⁺ further reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol to generate a red quinone compound, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 505 nm. The content of uric acid is calculated by measuring the absorbance at 505 nm.
