Superoxide Anion Scavenging Capacity Assay Kit 

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as superoxide anions in organisms play roles in immunity and signal transduction. However, excessive accumulation can damage cell membranes and biological macromolecules, leading to abnormal metabolism of cells and tissues in the organism, thereby causing various diseases.

The AP-TEMED system generates superoxide anions, which react with hydroxylamine hydrochloride to form nitrite ions (NO₂⁻). NO₂⁻ reacts with sulfanilamide and α-naphthylamine to produce a red azo compound, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 530 nm. The superoxide anion scavenging capacity of the sample is negatively correlated with the absorbance at 530 nm.
