Total Saponin (Saponin) Assay Kit 

Saponins are a class of glycosides whose aglycones are triterpenes or spirostanol compounds. They are mainly distributed in higher terrestrial plants and also exist in small amounts in marine organisms such as starfish and sea cucumbers. The main active ingredients of many Chinese herbal medicines, such as ginseng, Polygala tenuifolia, Platycodon grandiflorus, licorice, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, and Bupleurum chinense, contain saponins. Some saponins also have antibacterial activity or valuable biological activities such as antipyretic, sedative, and anticancer effects.

Ultrasonication is used to extract saponins from samples, and the vanillin-perchloric acid chromogenic system is applied to determine the total saponin content.
