Lipid Peroxide (LPO) Assay Kit 

Lipid hydroperoxides (LPO) are lipids with peroxide groups formed by the action of free radicals or reactive oxygen species on unsaturated fatty acid chains. Under normal conditions, the content of LPO is extremely low; however, under pathological conditions, enhanced lipid peroxidation can lead to an increase in LPO. Elevated LPO can cause various damages to the structure and function of cells and cell membranes, and it is associated with the body's immune system and aging.

Under acidic conditions and with heating, LPO produces malondialdehyde (MDA). MDA condenses with thiobarbituric acid (TBA) to form a reddish-brown trimethine (3,5,5-trimethyl oxazole-2,4-dione), which has a maximum absorption peak at 535 nm. Meanwhile, to eliminate the influence of absorbance from interfering products, the absorbance at 600 nm is subtracted.
