NADP-Malate Dehydrogenase (NADP-MDH) Assay Kit
NADP-Malate Dehydrogenase (NADP-MDH) Assay Kit
Malate dehydrogenase (MDH, EC 1.1.1.37) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. MDH in mitochondria is one of the key enzymes in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, catalyzing the conversion of malate to oxaloacetate; conversely, MDH in the cytoplasm catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate to malate. Oxaloacetate is an important intermediate that connects multiple key metabolic pathways. Therefore, MDH plays a crucial role in various cellular physiological activities, including mitochondrial energy metabolism, the malate-aspartate shuttle system, reactive oxygen species metabolism, and disease resistance. Based on different coenzyme specificities, MDH is classified into NAD-dependent MDH and NADP-dependent MDH. Bacteria usually only contain NAD-MDH; in eukaryotic cells, NAD-MDH is distributed in the cytoplasm and mitochondria. NADP-MDH catalyzes NADH to reduce oxaloacetate into malate, resulting in a decrease in light absorption at 340 nm.
