Citrate Synthase (CS) Assay Kit 

Citrate synthase (CS, EC 2.3.3.1) is widely present in the mitochondrial matrix of animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the first rate-limiting enzyme in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and one of the main regulatory sites of the TCA cycle.

CS catalyzes acetyl-CoA and oxaloacetate to produce citroyl-CoA, which is further hydrolyzed to generate citric acid. This reaction promotes the conversion of colorless DTNB into yellow TNB (5-thio-2-nitrobenzoic acid), which has a characteristic absorbance at 412 nm.
