NAD Malic Enzyme (NAD-ME) Assay Kit 

Malic enzyme (ME) is widely present in the cytoplasm of microorganisms, cultured cells, animals, and plants, with particularly high activity in plant tissues. ME catalyzes the reversible oxidative decarboxylation of malate, producing pyruvate and CO₂, accompanied by the reduction of NAD(P)⁺. It is a key enzyme in malate metabolism. ME activity is closely related to biosynthesis and antioxidant processes. In recent years, the determination of plant ME activity has been widely studied and has become a research focus in antioxidant studies. Based on differences in coenzyme specificity and substrate specificity, ME can be classified into NAD-ME (EC 1.1.1.38) and NADP-ME (EC 1.1.1.40).

NAD-ME catalyzes the reduction of NAD⁺ to NADH, and the rate of NADH increase is measured at 340 nm.
