Sorbitol Dehydrogenase (SDH) Assay Kit

Sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH, EC 1.1.1.14) catalyzes the dehydrogenation of sorbitol to produce fructose, and is one of the key enzymes regulating sorbitol content in organisms. While catalyzing the dehydrogenation of sorbitol to fructose, SDH simultaneously reduces NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, oxidized form) to generate NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, reduced form). The produced NADH can transfer electrons to NBT (nitroblue tetrazolium) to form purple formazan. Based on this principle, the activity of SDH can be calculated.
