PTM1 trace element solution (PTM1 Trace Salts) is used for preparing Pichia yeast fermentation expression media. Phosphorus and sulfur can form cellular materials, zinc can promote yeast growth and act as a cofactor for various dehydrogenases, and iron is a component of cytochromes and catalase. Low concentrations of trace elements promote yeast growth and protein expression, while high concentrations can be toxic to yeast, showing inhibitory effects.
