Chitinase Assay Kit
Chitinase Assay Kit
Chitin mainly exists in the exoskeletons of crustaceans such as shrimps, crabs, and insects, in the organs of mollusks (e.g., the cartilage of squids), and in the cell walls of fungi. Chitinase (EC 3.2.1.14), which can catalyze the hydrolysis of chitin, plays a role in resisting fungal infection and has become a research hotspot in anti-fungal disease studies. Chitinase hydrolyzes chitin to produce N-acetylglucosamine, which further reacts with DNS reagent to generate a brownish-red compound. This compound has a characteristic absorption peak at 540 nm, and the rate of increase in absorbance reflects the activity of chitinase.
