Pyruvate Kinase (PK) Assay Kit
Pyruvate Kinase (PK) Assay Kit
Pyruvate Kinase (PK, EC 2.7.1.40) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It catalyzes the final step in the glycolysis pathway, serving as one of the main rate-limiting enzymes in glycolysis and a key enzyme for ATP production. Therefore, determining PK activity is of great significance. PK catalyzes the reaction of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and pyruvate. Lactate dehydrogenase further catalyzes the reaction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (reduced form, NADH) and pyruvate to produce lactate and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (oxidized form, NAD⁺). The activity of PK can be reflected by measuring the decrease rate of NADH at 340 nm.
