Hexokinase (HK) Assay Kit

Hexokinase (HK) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is the first key enzyme in the glucose decomposition process, catalyzing the conversion of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate. Glucose-6-phosphate is the intersection of the glycolytic pathway and the pentose phosphate pathway.

HK catalyzes the synthesis of glucose-6-phosphate from glucose. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase further catalyzes the dehydrogenation of glucose-6-phosphate to generate nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (reduced form, NADPH). NADPH has a characteristic absorption peak at 340 nm, and the activity of HK can be determined by detecting the change in absorbance of NADPH at this wavelength.
