α-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase (α-KGDH) Assay Kit
α-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase (α-KGDH) Assay Kit
α-Ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (α-KGDH, EC 1.2.4.2) is widely present in the mitochondria of animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is one of the key regulatory enzymes in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, catalyzing the oxidative decarboxylation of α-ketoglutarate to form succinyl-CoA. α-KGDH catalyzes α-ketoglutarate, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (oxidized form, NAD⁺), and coenzyme A to generate succinyl-CoA, carbon dioxide, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (reduced form, NADH). NADH has a characteristic absorption peak at 340 nm, and the activity of α-KGDH is expressed by the production rate of NADH.
