Lactic Acid (LA)Content Assay Kit
Lactic Acid (LA)Content Assay Kit
Lactic acid is an important intermediate in the metabolic process of organisms. It is closely related to glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, protein metabolism, and intracellular energy metabolism. The content of lactic acid is a key indicator for evaluating glycogen metabolism and aerobic metabolism. Under the action of lactate dehydrogenase, lactic acid is converted to pyruvate. Meanwhile, this reaction reduces nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (oxidized form, NAD⁺) to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (reduced form, NADH) and hydrogen ions (H⁺). The H⁺ is transferred to phenazine methosulfate (PMS) to form PMSH₂, and PMSH₂ further reduces 2-(4-iodophenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-5-phenyltetrazolium chloride (INT) to a red substance. This red substance has a characteristic absorption peak at 530 nm, and the content of lactic acid can be quantified by measuring the absorbance at this wavelength.
