Ca2⁺Mg2⁺-ATPase is widely distributed in plants, animals, microorganisms, and cells. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of ATP to generate ADP and inorganic phosphate (Pi).

Ca2⁺Mg2⁺-ATPase decomposes ATP into ADP and inorganic phosphate. The activity of this ATPase is determined by measuring the amount of inorganic phosphate produced—there is a direct positive correlation between the amount of inorganic phosphate and the enzyme’s activity.
