Enterococcus broth
Enterococcus broth is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of enterococci. Its basic components include peptone and yeast extract powder, and the key selective inhibitor is sodium azide, which can effectively inhibit gram-negative bacteria and most non-target gram-positive bacteria. Glucose in the culture medium is used as fermentable carbon source and bromocresol violet is used as acid-base indicator. After the target enterococcus fermented to produce acid, the culture medium changed from purple to yellow. The broth was used for constructive detection and enrichment of Enterococcus faecalis in water quality, food and other samples, providing a basis for subsequent separation and identification.
