CIN-1 medium is a solid medium for selective separation of yersinia enterocolitica. Its basic components include peptone, yeast extract powder and mannitol, and the key selective inhibitors are bile salt, crystal violet, strontium chloride and neomycin, which can effectively inhibit gram-positive bacteria and most gram-negative miscellaneous bacteria. The neutral red indicator in this medium can make the yersinia enterocolitica of fermented mannitol form a "bull's eye" colony with red center. This specific morphology is easy to identify and is widely used for the detection of this pathogen in food and clinical samples.
