Improved kirschner's disaccharide iron medium
Improved kirschner's disaccharide iron medium
The modified iron krimsonii disaccharide medium is a compound biochemical test medium for preliminary identification of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. Its components include peptone, beef extract powder, and glucose and lactose. Phenol red is used as acid-base indicator, and ferrous sulfate is used to detect the production of hydrogen sulfide. Through puncture inoculation and slant streaking culture, sugar fermentation (slant turning yellow/bottom turning yellow), gas production (medium breakage or bubbles) and hydrogen sulfide production (black precipitation) can be observed simultaneously. This culture medium can quickly distinguish whether glucose is fermented, whether it produces gas and hydrogen sulfide, and it is a classic tool for identification of intestinal bacteria.
