ITC broth

ITC broth is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Vibrio cholerae. Its basic components are peptone and beef extract powder, and the key selective inhibitors are polymyxin B, aztreonam and triclosan, which can effectively inhibit gram-positive bacteria and most non-target gram-negative bacteria. Taurocholate and sodium chloride in the culture medium can promote the growth of Vibrio and maintain appropriate osmotic pressure. The broth is used for enrichment culture of Vibrio cholerae in food, water samples and clinical specimens, and selective proliferation is achieved by creating a high-salinity alkaline environment, which provides a basis for subsequent separation and identification.
