MRS solid medium (containing lactose)

MRS solid medium (containing lactose) is an improved solid medium for selective separation and identification of lactobacillus. Its basic components include peptone, beef extract powder and yeast extract powder, and its key feature is that lactose is used as the only fermentable carbon source to replace glucose. Tween 80, sodium acetate and ammonium citrate can promote the growth of bacteria, and bromocresol green is used as acid-base indicator. Lactobacillus strains with lactose can be used to ferment and produce acid, so that the periphery of the colony turns yellow, so that the rapid screening and identification of lactose metabolism ability of the strains can be realized, which is especially suitable for the breeding of dairy fermentation strains.
