Glycolate oxidase (EC 1.1.3.15) is a key enzyme in the plant photorespiration metabolism and also a key enzyme in the light-mediated synthesis of oxalic acid. It catalyzes the oxidation of glycolate to glyoxylic acid, which is significant for studying the process and regulation of photorespiration metabolism. Glycolate oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of glycolate to glyoxylic acid, which reacts with benzylhydrazine to form glyoxylic acid phenylhydrazone, presenting a characteristic absorption peak at 324 nm.
