Glutathione S-transferase(GST) Assay Kit

GST is a family of proteins with various physiological functions, primarily found in the cytoplasm. GST is a key component of the body's detoxification enzyme system, primarily catalyzing the covalent binding of various chemicals and their metabolic products with the thiol group of GSH, transforming electrophilic compounds into hydrophilic substances, which can easily be excreted through bile or urine, achieving the goal of degrading and expelling various potential or toxic substances from the body. Therefore, GST plays an important biological role in protecting cells from damage caused by electrophilic compounds. Additionally, because GST possesses GSH-Px activity, also known as non-Se GSH-Px, it has the function of repairing large molecules that have been damaged by oxidation, such as DNA and proteins. It is important to note that the reactions catalyzed by GST reduce GSH levels but do not increase GSSG levels.
